Peter E. Gilgan, O.Ont.

Peter Gilgan is Founder and CEO of Mattamy Homes, Canada's largest new home builder with 50,000 homes built in more than 150 communities in Greater Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary and across the United States. One of Canada’s most successful entrepreneurs, Mr. Gilgan is also known for his multi million dollar commitment to philanthropy. He is also lends his time and business acumen to many charitable boards, campaign committees and community initiatives. A passionate cyclist, Mr. Gilgan created the Tour de Bleu in 2005 to combine his love for the sport and commitment to community initiatives. The Tour de Bleu has since raised more than $3 million for local health charities.

L. Jacques Ménard serves on many boards and is Deputy Chancellor of Concordia University and a member of the Task Force on Competitiveness, Productivity and Economic Progress of the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. He is also sits on the Advisory Board of Glendon College at York University. He published his first book in 2008, “Si on s’y mettait…” and then established the Groupe d’action sur la persévérance et la réussite scolaires. Mr. Ménard subsequently published Beyond the Numbers… a Matter of the Heart about high school perseverance. Mr. Ménard is an Officer of the Order or Canada and the Order of Quebec.

Hazel McCallion, C.M.
City of Mississauga

Hazel McCallion is not only Canada’s longest-serving mayor she is also one of the longest-serving elected leaders in the world. First elected major of Mississauga in 1978, Hazel McCallion has overseen the growth of Mississauga from a collection of towns and villages to Canada’s sixth largest city.

She is known for her tireless efforts to improve the wellbeing of children. Of all the accolades bestowed on her, including the Order of Canada in 2005, Mayor McCallion is most proud of a school in Mississauga named in her honour. Hazel McCallion Senior Public School opened in 1991, and is home of the Hurricanes – sports teams named after her nickname, Hurricane Hazel.
