Partnership Summit - by invitation only

April 10, 2014 | Toronto, Ontario
welcome to kindergarten kids

What are we doing to successfully move young Canadians from school to work?

The school to work journey for students is often riddled with U-turns, reversals, obstacles and forks in the road. On graduating from high school many youth lack direction and don’t find their way successfully into the workforce.

The Learning Partnership will tackle this issue head-on at The Partnership Summit, with more than 100 leaders and influencers from business, education, government and student communities who understand the value of creating systemic, results-oriented solutions that help prepare young Canadians to make informed choices for their future. Our confirmed participants so far include these leaders:

  • Rick Waugh, Former President and CEO, Scotiabank
  • James Politeski, President, Samsung Canada
  • Nitin Kawale, President, Cisco Systems Canada Co.
  • Patrick Nangle, President and CEO, Purolator Inc.
  • Glenn Laverty, President and CEO, Ricoh Canada
  • Linda Franklin, President and CEO, Colleges Ontario
  • Liz Sandals, Minister of Education
  • George Zegarac, Deputy Minister of Education, Ontario
  • Greg Bass, Deputy Minister of Education, Alberta
  • Andreas Schleicher, Deputy Director for Education & Skills and Special Advisor on Education, OECD (via Skype)
  • Carol Stephenson, Dean Emeritus, Richard Ivey School of Business
  • Michael Fullan, Professor Emeritus, OISE
  • Terry Stuart, Chief Innovation Officer, Deloitte

Steve Paikin, host of TVO’s The Agenda, will be moderating the panel discussions.

Our goals for the Summit are to:

  1. Get in the fast lane – shift an Info-Rich, Action-Poor reality to one that drives results-focused initiatives nationally
  2. Catalyze and build multi-sector collaborations that leverage our collective expertise
  3. Identify five actions we must take in the next three years to prepare young Canadians to successfully move from school to work in line with market demands

The Summit is hosted by Torys and sponsored by Scotiabank, Samsung, Ernst & Young, and Deloitte.

This invitation-only event takes place Thursday, April 10, 2014. For more information, contact comeziri@thelearningpartnership.ca
