The Directors of Education Leadership Institute

The Directors of Education Leadership Institute is a leading edge executive development program. The Learning Partnership developed it in association with the Council of Ontario Directors of Education (CODE) and prominent Business Schools in Ontario.

This program is designed to develop the knowledge, practical skills, strategies and cross sector networking required
for leaders in education to successfully deliver excellence in our publicly funded education system.

The Directors of Education Leadership Institute has successfully completed four series since its inception in the spring of 2006. In total, 87 participants from the ranks of Director of Education, Associate, Assistant or Deputy Director and senior supervisory officers who aspire to the Directors’ role have participated. A fifth series of this program is scheduled to begin in 2016.

Why is this Initiative Important for Education across Canada?

In today’s society, the leadership challenge to successfully lead a coherent drive for district-wide education improvement is unequalled. Directors of Education or Chief Superintendents, as system-wide leaders, must have the capacity to capture the minds and hearts of the diverse interests in their communities. They must also recognize and embrace the necessary innovations, and systemic and personal changes to achieve education improvement.

Directors of Education must be well-versed in change leadership skills, understand the power of collaborations with the business communities, and be able to make effective use of a district's human and financial resources.

Who Should Attend?

The program is designed for participants who are currently in the position of Directors of Education or the equivalent CEO position in school districts across Canada.
