Annual Report 2019

PARTNERING FOR THE NEXT GENERATION

In 2019, as we celebrated 25 years of delivering classroom-based, curriculum-aligned educational programming across Canada, we also set out an ambitious new Impact Strategy 2020-2022 to strengthen our programs, build our partnerships and deepen our impact.

The world is facing challenges that require innovation and entrepreneurialism, connection and collaboration, and visionary leadership that marries technology, creativity and compassion. More than ever before we need the skills, energy and voices of youth who will lead the change needed to meet and overcome these challenges.

Our vision is a Canada where creativity and critical thinking are possible for every child.

Through partnership, we can achieve our mission to inspire and equip students today to become the problem solvers and change makers of tomorrow.

Innovation Education

Providing an escape in Ottawa
Young entrepreneurs at Katimavik Elementary School created an escapist experience that earned them a Teamwork Award as part of the BMO National Student Innovation Awards.
Teaching coding, collaboration and more in New Brunswick
Lindsey Fairweather’s Grade 4/5 students developed leadership skills, teamwork and independence while learning to code.
A sensory cushion for better concentration and learning
Grade 7 student Stephen created an innovative seat cushion that helps kids with sensory processing issues better focus in class.
Social-emotional skills for the earliest learners
Social-Emotional Learning Conversation Cards spark discussions with early learners on solving problems peacefully, getting along with others, and being calm and kind among other skills.

“Parents are really happy that we’ve included Indigenous materials in the Welcome to Kindergarten bag. The online learning resources have been adapted to include songs and videos, and there is even a M’ikmaq recipe book. Parents tell us it has made the program even more relevant and meaningful to them and to their children.”

Jennifer Nangreaves
Director of Abegweit First Nation Early Childhood Centre, Prince Edward Islan

“It was truly inspiring to see how passionate each student was in delivering a high-quality experience. Entrepreneurial Adventure gives students an experience that would be hard to come by in a traditional classroom setting.”

Adam Barrett, Treasury & Payment Specialist, Eastern, Central & Northern Ontario Division, BMO
