Question from Kennedy, Woodbridge, ON
“What if you have different unrelated interests. How do you choose a pathway? And in four years, what do you think will be most in demand?”
Hello Kennedy,
Identifying your interests is a good first step, and I believe you are on the right track!
The next step should be identifying which of your interests would be the best fit for you as a profession. Ask yourself, which of my interests will I enjoy doing daily to achieve results and earn an income?
Don’t assume your other interests, which do not turn out to be your profession, are completely neglected. You can always go back to those interests in future as hobbies or something you do outside of work.
One of my interests in high school was to become a braider. Although I was unable to pursue that interest professionally, the skills I developed practicing came in handy in future helping my daughter and friends fix their hair.
Job demand changes as the world changes, but the future of work continues to look bright for technology-related jobs, medical jobs, business operation and management-related jobs, data analytics, teaching and many more.
