As the school year is coming to a close, students from 12 schools across Canada can look back and say they’ve conquered the daunting world of big business, developed essential life skills and can now add National Student Innovation Awards to their résumés.
Twelve classrooms in Calgary, Ottawa, York Region, Toronto and Fredericton were recognized in the 2018 BMO National Student Innovation Awards for their exemplary business ventures, demonstrating originality, enterprising spirit, teamwork, and school and community impact. Judges’ Choice Awards were also given to the classroom ventures that best demonstrated all of these criteria.
The awards ceremony events are part of the culmination of the Entrepreneurial Adventure program, which challenges students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 to develop business ventures right in the classroom, with support from their teachers and volunteer business mentors. The program enables students to develop global competencies in business, entrepreneurship, problem solving, critical thinking and corporate social responsibility.
Over the past 23 years, BMO Financial Group has been supporting the program, allowing more than 60,000 students across Canada to become young entrepreneurs.
