Question from Sofia, Toronto, ON
“Was there a large turning point in your life that helped you find your career or did you know what it was while growing up?”
For me it was a process and my career has taken shape over the years. I didn’t know what I wanted to do for a career, but I knew what I liked and what I didn’t like. I enjoyed learning about people, wanted to make a difference, and I wanted to have career options.
I chose to study psychology because of my interest in people. It was hard to find work, so I took an opportunity to work on my PhD in business, which gave me more career opportunities.
When I moved to Canada, my degree opened doors to start a career in Canada. My jobs always centered around supporting people going through change in their organization. It is important to know what you like and what you don’t like because it helps to decide which education and which jobs will be right for you.
